#2 MH Trip Update – January 2023 – Webuye

My time in Webuye was beautiful.  I’m always grateful for safe travel. I had time with the children, many of whom are young adults now.  I was delighted to see one of our girls who has grown beyond Miracle House. She is working in a medical clinic, now married, and has a two-year-old girl.  Later she brought her daughter to the MHCentre to meet me too.

We had a guardian meeting and really focused our time on teaching parenting skills. Sadly, much of the challenge our children are experiencing is repeated from what their parents have experienced. Generational abuse and trauma – doesn’t just go away.  We hadn’t planned to feed the guardians; the meeting was scheduled at 10:00 expected to finish by 11:00.  Well, the first two guardians arrived just after 11:00. Welcome to Kenya 🇰🇪

So, EVERYONE was hungry and expecting lunch after the meeting… the staff hadn’t prepared for everyone, only for our students.  They asked me what to do, I prayed for multiplication – Thank God everyone ate!

I had beautiful times to connect with each of the children!  Took their photos and even some with their parent or guardian.

We roasted the marshmallows that arrived later in the missing trunks, it wasn’t the huge bonfire, but it was fun  and  sticky!

We took the opportunity to visit a home of one of our boys. Quite a drive to get there and then leaving the vehicle on the side of the path when we came to a huge boulder that was blocking the path. Nearly dark, I said, okay we are going to need to be quick. We walked a long way to find the people we were looking for, a puzzle of extended family.  Searching for the main characters we wanted to meet with… we ended up in someone’s home.  Welcomed in beautiful Kenyan fashion, by people who weren’t really who we were looking for, yet they were, as they were the peacekeepers, The Man of Peace.  God is Good!  The details here are confidential but let me just say – it was one of the most beautiful reconciliations of extended family I’ve ever seen.  Years of horrible challenges broke off and our boy’s mom gave her life to Jesus!  The details within the circumstances changed so dramatically, life will be different for this family.  Praise God!  Sometimes it’s a blessing to not be able to understand the language – just sit watching and praying! We have fabulous staff members who navigate situations like this all the time.  We give God the Glory for this story!  We know HE went before us and prepared the way!  By the way, we left there 3-4 hours after we parked the car 😉 God’s timing is better than mine! All the time, every day! Glory!

Please pray with us, our  children and our Miracle House future!  More to come on this!!
