#6 MH Trip Update – January 2023 – Machakos & Kajiado and Nyama Choma (again)

Upon our return from Mombasa that evening we drove directly to Machakos.  We arrived late, hungry and tired at an interesting hotel, can’t say I slept much, but not the worst I’ve experienced.

All worth it to have breakfast the next morning with “G” – this champion is attending a school of theology and counseling.  He is so delighted with his school, his experience, his ministry opportunities, all he is learning and more!  I have to say, he was so cute – I’ve never heard him talk so much.  One question and away he goes with story after story.  His English is so good, I’m so proud of him!   He managed to eat his breakfast and we then packed up all the remaining food for him to take and eat after church.  He loves working with the children at his church and needed to go to teach Sunday School.

From there we drove a couple of hours at least, the last one on a dirt road, to visit another one of our students.  This visit was more challenging.  I can’t say more, but I’ll say, as other parents know, not every parenting moment is the best and certainly not my favorite.  We left sad after 2-3 hours of hard conversation.  God is Good, God is Faithful and Jesus is the Redeemer!  Please join us in praying for this one, God still has a hope and a future designed just for him, a destiny to be lived!

From there, exhausted, and very hungry, in the middle of nowhere, we found nyama choma – delicious, cooked meat and fabulous side dishes.  This got us back to Nairobi – Praise God!  As we arrived at the place we were staying, I was asked to pray for children at a children’s home…
